About Kara

Empowering Adults to Thrive Daily in Life

Hi, I’m Kara

I’m an ADHD and Life Coach based in Melbourne who works remotely. I am passionate about helping adults uncover their strengths, improve their focus, and navigate everyday life with confidence.

My coaching practice is grounded in professionalism, trust, curiosity, and warmth, which is designed to help you create meaningful, sustainable change.

Who I Work With

I specialise in working with adults living with ADHD — whether diagnosed or exploring the possibility — and those who want to strengthen their organisation, attention, and self-management skills.

Together, we look beyond challenges to build practical strategies that align with your unique brain, values, and lifestyle.

My Approach

My approach is collaborative, non-judgemental, but curious.

We work as a team to identify your goals, strengthen your skills, and build habits that support your success — whether that’s managing overwhelm, improving productivity, or creating more balance day-to-day.

I believe that ADHD is not a limitation — it’s a different way of thinking, and when supported with the right tools and strategies, it can become a powerful strength.

My Background

With a background that blends psychology, education, and the creative arts, I bring a deep understanding of how people learn, grow, and adapt.

My signature strengths are honesty, curiosity, and perseverance.

I love helping people uncover their own strengths and often invite clients to explore their VIA Character Strengths Survey as part of that journey. This is usually where I start. You are welcome to access this and learn about yourself before seeing me: VIA Character Strengths Survey & Character Reports

Education

My studies reflect my passion for people, my applied academia, and my commitment to personal and professional growth:

  • Certification in ADHD and Life Coaching, ADDCA (2025) - completing process through ICF and PAAC to be internationally certified.

  • Bachelor of Psychological Sciences, Swinburne University (2023)

  • Master of Teaching (Secondary), The University of Melbourne (2010)

  • Bachelor of Arts (Acting), University of Ballarat (2008)

My Story

My passion for supporting others began during my Master of Teaching (Secondary), when my work in Individual Differentiation revealed just how strongly personalised learning and intrinsic motivation influence our growth and wellbeing.

I’ve worked in education for years and still do today — as a teacher, leader in pastoral care, and a mentor. What I have always loved is supporting students beyond the classroom, helping them find confidence, navigate overwhelm, and reconnect with their sense of purpose.

These experiences led me to study and complete a Bachelor of Psychological Sciences, with the plan of becoming a Clinical Psychologist. I was even accepted into Honours to continue on that pathway. But around that time, I had an epiphany — a moment that genuinely spoke to my heart. More and more students, along with friends and family members, were being diagnosed with ADHD, and I realised how limited mainstream conversations about ADHD often are. I wanted to understand far more than the stereotypes.

As I learned more, the creativity, intensity, and drive I saw in people with ADHD felt both familiar and deeply inspiring. That’s when I realised I didn’t just want to study ADHD — I wanted to support and work alongside people who think they may have ADHD, as well as those who have been diagnosed and are seeking meaningful, practical support.

I remember one student in particular who had been diganosed with ADHD. I tried every strategy I knew, but nothing quite worked — until I realised I needed to understand their brain rather than trying to fit them into a system that wasn’t built for them. That experience opened my eyes — and my heart — to the power of working with the ADHD brain, not against it.

When I began applying my growing knowledge of ADHD, alongside my skills as an educator, I saw real change for that student. That moment of connection and transformation was when I knew, without doubt, that ADHD coaching was my true path.

After working with this student again, whilst working through my certification, I’d discovered a new relationship as a teacher and also as a respected member in their world. The world that I opened up to them because I am educated in ADHD has become a world of evidence-based practice with my clients. I will forever be grateful for the student that opened my world - to learn more and to be a better teacher, let alone a better coach.

I choose, currently, to work with adults (18+) — whether they have an ADHD diagnosis or are exploring the possibility — because my training and experience best prepare me to support this stage of life.

Why Coaching Feels Right

While I don’t have an ADHD diagnosis myself, I bring years of experience working closely with people who do — and a lifelong curiosity about focus, motivation, and self-management. Many of my friends, family members, colleagues, and students have been diagnosed, and I’ve been an active, supportive part of their lives.

Like many of my clients, I’ve had my own seasons of doubt, hyperfocus, and searching for the “right” path. Through those experiences, I’ve learned how to build structure, clarity, and self-trust — lessons that deeply shape the way I coach.

Over time, I’ve come to understand that growth doesn’t come from doing more; it comes from understanding yourself — your values, your patterns, and your natural rhythms. My work is grounded in ideas that resonate with me personally, from Byron Katie’s “Is this true?” to gentle self-inquiry inspired by Brené Brown and IFS creators like Richard Schwartz. These approaches help anchor my coaching in compassion, curiosity, and practical insight.

My practice is not past-focused; it is future-focused. We may explore parts of your past to build awareness, but our goal is always to move toward the life you want to create.

I am here for you. I care about you. And I’m committed to working with you in a forward-looking, empowering way — because moving ahead with you is what matters most.

How I Can Support You

My coaching is grounded in curiosity, kindness, and non-judgement. I also believe that fun and joy are essential ingredients in a meaningful life — even though pressure, expectations, and daily demands can make them difficult to access. I’ve felt that too, many times. Navigating the space between our own needs and the expectations of others isn’t easy. That’s why identifying and honouring your boundaries matters, and with my support, we’ll work toward doing that with confidence and a sense of self-fulfilment.

Finding balance is possible — and sometimes having someone walk beside you makes all the difference. In this space, I’m here for that journey as your coach.

My work is informed by evidence-based understanding of ADHD and human behaviour, shaped by creativity, compassion, and practical strategies that help you thrive. I won’t overload you with strategies, and I won’t offer them unless they genuinely serve you or you ask for them. In my experience, coaching works best when we build from what has helped you in the past and adapt it to where you want to go. This is your path, your life, and only you can know what feels right.

I coach adults with or without ADHD diagnoses, including those who suspect they may have ADHD but haven’t pursued assessment. I’ll never push for a diagnosis — but if I believe additional support could enhance your progress, I’ll gently encourage you to explore it. I don’t diagnose ADHD, and while this is important to note, a desire to seek a diagnosis will never interrupt or diminish our work together. If anything, it can give us clarity and shape the strategies we use in our coaching sessions.

I bring a blend of knowledge, lived experience, and genuine enthusiasm to help you build clarity, confidence, and self-acceptance — and to help you find and follow your focus.

While I offer both Life Coaching and ADHD Coaching, diagnosis is not part of my role. If you’d like to pursue assessment, I can guide you toward qualified professionals who can support you.

With your permission, I can collaborate with other professionals you’re working with to ensure your support is cohesive and consistent. Transparency is important here — knowing who is on your team helps me offer you the best professional coaching support while respecting the work you’re doing with your medical and allied health providers.

Ultimately, I’m your coach. I’m here to walk beside you as you grow — with awareness, purpose, and balance.
